Part-time Nutrition Assistant

Part-time Nutrition Assistant – Central Coast Treatment Center

Location: San Luis Obispo, CA

Program Overview

The Central Coast Treatment Center is dedicated to providing compassionate care for individuals of all ages affected by eating, exercise, and body image disorders. We offer Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) that integrate evidence-based therapies with experiential practices. Our holistic approach emphasizes healing the mind and body, fostering self-worth, and promoting authentic recovery.

Position Summary

The position of Nutrition Assistant is a unique opportunity to work with a Registered Dietitian, earn experience in the kitchen and gain specialized training in nutrition as it pertains to eating disorders.

Essential duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Cooking and preparing meals based on an exchange system and cycle menu

  • Sitting with and supporting clients through therapeutic meals

  • Offering clients supplementation when needed

  • Cleaning, organizing and restocking the kitchen

  • Taking clients on therapeutic grocery outings

  • Assisting RD's with implementing client meal plans

  • Weekly grocery shopping

  • Participating in treatment coordination and other duties as they arise

  • Possible support or facilitation of nutrition groups for clients

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (Bachelor's degree preferred)

  • Some experience with food handling is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Commitment to cultural awareness, trauma-informed care, and ongoing professional development.
